Mathematics Comes to Life

Students are especially motivated by Mathematics that connects with the world around them. This term, Year 3 and 4 have been exploring the skills involved in running a lemonade stand. This has been a fun way to explore a range of ideas related to measurement, number sense and money.
To make their learning even more exciting, they will be running their own drink stall next Monday, 26 November at recess.
Students will be able to purchase lemonade, raspberry fizz or banana smoothie, made by the students, for $1.50.

We hope many of our students will support this authentic learning project by purchasing a cup from one of the stalls.

Kindergarten Music Recital

Dear Kindergarten Parents,

On Friday, November 16 at 10am, I would like to invite any Kindergarten student who takes individual, weekly music lessons on an instrument to perform in our Kindy Music Recital. Students will have the opportunity to perform a solo piece to their class in the music room. Parents are most welcome to come along. This is a very low-key, supportive way for students to experience performing and is open to even the newest of beginners. In 2019, they will be welcome to play in Bayview’s Lunchtime Music Recitals which are open to students in Years 1-6.

If your child learns an instrument (either with an in-school tutor or externally) and would like to perform, please send an email to confirm to Penny Burt through bayviewoffice@stlukes.nsw.edu.au

Kind regards,

Penny Burt – Classroom Music Teacher

Learning Support teacher Term 4 Miss Krieg

Welcome back!

My name is Miss Krieg and I will be the learning support teacher for this term. It has been lovely to meet all the students the past couple weeks and I look forward to being able to continue to work with them until the end of the year.

Our K-2 students have been working hard on their literacy assessments the last 2 weeks and have shown a great amount of growth. Well done everyone!

Christmas Carnival

Dear Parents,

Today your child would have brought home a couple of envelopes in reference to the Christmas Carnival. One envelope contains raffle tickets for them to purchase the other contains the invitation.

Along with these were the words to some Christmas songs. These are the songs that we will be singing and will be practising throughout the week. Any practice at home to help learn the words would be very much appreciated.

Kind Regards,
Matthew Donaldson
