After an excellent day yesterday it was a joy to have another fun half day on Friday. This morning we talked about what a routine is and how it tells us what is happening throughout the day. We continued talking about being collaborative learners and how it is important to choose a learning space which will help us learn the best.
The students participated in an art activity where they were allowed to choose their learning space, some chose to do their art at a stand up desk, some chose to sit at a table, and some chose to lie on the floor.
After this we all came together to have 'crunch and sip' in the library where we were introduced to a book called "James and the Giant Peach". Mr. Donaldson explained that during reading time this year we are going to explore some authors who write chapter books. We were able to read three of the chapters in "James and the Giant Peach" during 'crunch and sip'
Before Morning Tea we spent some more time talking about sentences and how to identify them correctly. We talked about the difference between a Capital Letter and a Lowercase Letter and how they signify the beginning of a sentence. Using this knowledge we read a book and began to count how many sentences were on each page.
After Morning Tea we moved down to the music room where we had our first Music lesson for the year. It was a lot of fun.
